Prems 7 – 1 CBD FC

With several players away, injured or suspended it was always going to be a slow start on the day and a fit and aggressive CBD side were very competitive for the first 45. It took a classy move down the right with full back Smudge playing a quick one two and breaking into the opposition box, cutting the ball back coolly for Tim to slot his first league goal of the year. Our second came from a corner Nick rising the highest to score his second in 3 games, a good start for the year for the centre back. Dale made it 3 before halftime with a long range effort being helped across the line by the CBD stand in goal keeper.

3-0 at half time and we hadn’t really got started yet, half time discussions focused on having a bit more composure on the ball and for patches of the second half we did look a bit more like how we had played in pre-season.It was CBD who struck first though when A Dunbar attack down the left broke down leaving a few players out of position, CBD struck quickly finding a gap down the left-hand side their right wing cutting the ball back for their forward to slot home into an empty net.
Perhaps sparked to life by conceding early Dunbar came to life and scored two quick goals in reply, firstly from another corner. James glancing a low cross up and over the keeper and into the far corner and moments later Dale was put through on the left to coolly slot his second of the afternoon past the keeper at the near post.
Backing up after a full 90 mins for the reserves Jake came on for the final 30 and was quick to get his foot on the ball and start moving it around. He was rewarded for his quick pressing when he stole the ball off the toes of the CBD centre-mid, cutting between both centre-backs and calmly sliding the ball home. It was Jake who then turned creator for the 7th as he turned sharply in the middle and laid the ball in front of Tim to complete his brace with a low drive to the far post.

7-1 the final score but with a lot of room for improvement from the home team, round 4 in the FFA cup up next on Wednesday night and with the squad back to near full strength we are looking forward to the challenge ahead.
