Dunbar Ressies v CBD FC – 24 June 2017, the Domain

The Ressies took their good league form into a potential banana skin against an ever improving Sydney CBD down at The Domain on Saturday afternoon

We started off the brighter team with Dave Lynes forcing the goalkeeper into one of many good saves early on but after 15 mins the deadlock was broken after our Argentian midfielder, Nic, drove a good corner in which was met by top goal scorer Matthew Pickover to head home from 10 yards to make it 1-0

Dunbar tried to grab a few more goals probing around the box and again Lynes made the CBD keeper work but we couldn’t get that second goal

The CBD equaliser came from a free kick which was floated in from the left hand side which went in despite the keepers best effort 1-1. CBD almost grabbed a 2nd before half time after a cross was dropped right to the CBD forward who fortunately for Dunbar put the shot wide from close range.

The 2nd half started well for Dunbar who again were on the front foot and eventually we took back the lead through Dave Lynes with a poachers goal from inside the 6 yard box to make it 2-1

The CBD equaliser came from a ball over the top which ran back to our GK who’s kick back out fell to the very grateful CBD forward who slotted home into the empty net to make it 2-2 and all to play for in the last 20 mins

With the clock running down Dunbar were on top when again Dave Lynes popped up again inside the 6 yard box after a mix up in the CBD defence the ball dropped kindly for the Dunbar forward who notched the winner to make it 3-2 that was also Dave’s 8th goal of the season.

A close game for Ressies who had to work hard and put a lot of graft in to earn the 3 points on what is a very difficult place to play

Well done to the lads on to Waverley OB next weekend

Final Score 3 – 2 WIN for Dunbar
