Welcome to Dunbar Rovers
Dunbar Rovers Football Club has become one of the leading clubs in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs Football Association (ESFA). Founded in 1991 with just one team, we now have grown to have over 600 registered members, comprising of male and female players, competing in junior and senior competitions and ranging in age from 4 to 65+.
At the highest level in ESFA, Dunbar Rovers has a unique position in having the most successful side with our Men’s Championship team winning the ESFA Championship (Premier League) six times since its inception in 2007 and going on to win the Grand final five times. The Club also have been consistently prominent at the top of ESFA’s Women’s competition taking out the league 10 times then going on to win the Grand Final on six occasions. Both sides have won the prestige’s NSW Champion of Champions, with the Men in 2008 and 2014 and more recently the Women in 2016.
We have also been competitive in the older version of the game with two Over 35 teams and the GOD’s (Gentlemen of Dunbar) playing in the Over 45 competition. Our O35 Championship team have won the league the past few years and last year got to the semi-final of the Champion of Champions.
We are rightly proud of our on-field Senior record: 55 Club grand final appearances, 35 Club grand final wins and 35 Club minor premierships. All achieved in style with Dunbar’s trademark pink collar.
From our first contribution into Junior football in 2008 via a partnership with the Football Project of Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF) where we sponsored two teams the Club now has over 18 teams in the ESFA local competition (the first being registered in 2013). Local girls and boys have the option to enjoy football via our weekend hub for our youngest members aged 5 to 7 (established in 2012) and experience the thrill of gala day football a couple of times through the season, play in a team (including one of our NPL pathway development squads) or join an after school program.
Winning the Clubs second Champion of Champions in 2014, our application to enter the Football New South Wales (FNSW) State League competition was accepted and a new division of the Club formed to run the operations for the teams required to play in that State competition. We won that competition in our inaugural year and with FNSW changing the formation of the Nation Premier League we now play in NPL 3 and our youth teams in NPL 2.
All of the above milestones would not have been possible without the contributions from our valued sponsors, coaches, former members, team managers and the many volunteers who work behind the scenes day in and day out and have the vision to keep propelling the Club forward. The Club thank you.
