Welcome to Dunbar Rovers
Dunbar Rovers Football Club has become one of the leading clubs in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs Football Association (ESFA). Founded in 1991 with just one team, we now have over 860 registered Members including male and female players, competing in Junior and Senior competitions, and ranging in age from 5 to 65+.
At the highest level in ESFA, Dunbar Rovers has a unique position in having the most successful sides. Our Men’s Championship team has won the ESFA Championship (Premier League) 7 times since its inception in 2007, and has also gone on to win the Grand Final 5 times. Furthermore, the Club has been consistently prominent at the top of ESFA’s Women’s competition, taking out the League 12 times then going on to win the Grand Final on 6 occasions, all since 2004. Both the Men and Women sides have won the prestigious NSW Champion of Champions twice, with the Men in 2008 and 2014 and more recently the Women in 2016 and 2018.
We have also been competitive in the older divisions with two Over35 teams and two Over45 teams, which include the GoD’s (the Gentlemen of Dunbar) playing as the Over45B in the Over45 competition. Dunbar Rovers O35 Championship team has won the League 7 times since 2010, winning the NSW Champion of Champions in 2018.
As a Club, we are rightly proud of our on-field Senior record: 55 Club Grand Final appearances, 35 Club Grand Final wins and 35 Club Minor Premierships. All achieved in style with Dunbar’s trademark pink collar, our stamp symbolising good sportsmanship and behaviour both on and off the field.
From our first contribution into Junior football in 2008 via a partnership with the Football Project of Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF), where we sponsored two teams, the Club now has over 17 teams in ESFA local junior competitions (our first junior team registered in 2013). Local girls and boys have the option to enjoy football via our weekend hub for our youngest members aged 5 to 7 (established in 2012), and experience the thrill of Gala Day football a couple of times through the season, play in a team (including one of our NPL pathway development squads) or join the After School program.
In 2014, soon after the Senior Men won the Club’s second NSW Champion of Champions trophy, we were invited to enter Football New South Wales (FNSW) State League competition. As a result, a new division of the Club was formed to run the operations for those teams required to compete in State League. We won that competition in our inaugural year and, with FNSW changing the formation of the Nation Premier Leagues, we now play in NPL3 and our Youth teams in NPL2.
All of these milestones would not have been possible without the contributions from our valued sponsors, coaches, former members, team managers and the many volunteers who work behind the scenes, day in and day out, and have the vision to keep propelling the Club forward.
The Club thanks you.
