A great night for the Ressies at the Reg Bartley Oval
Dunbar Rovers 4-0 Coogee United
Match Report below:
Matty Pickover 2
We started the game really well – having most of the early possession and we were unlucky not to go 1 up only for Paddy Millington-Buck firing his shot wide. Coogee were looking dangerous on the counter, as their game plan was to hit us on the break early. Just before half-time, the break through, as Mike Sealy bent in a superb free kick into the top corner which gave Dunbar the advantage going into half-time
The second half began the same, Dunbar with most of the possession only Coogee came out to hit back at us as soon as they could. Dunbar’s second goal came from a free kick gave away near the touch line which swung in by Sealy and met by Big Duncan Burns at the far post.
From then on Coogee were left chasing the game which left them exposed at the back, a good ball through from Jake Hughes to Matty Pickover, gave Matty the chance to run towards goal from where he slotted from a narrow angle to make it 3-0 and game over!
Coogee did try and hit back they had a good effort saved by the Dunbar keeper, Pat Barton, and also went close again just halted by the cross bar. The 4th Dunbar goal came not long from the end – a mix up in the Coogee defence ended up at the feet of a grateful Matty Pickover to slot home for an easy finish.
A well-deserved win for the lads last night, a great all round performance.
MOM: Duncan Burns
