Coaches Corner | Sophie Imbert
Sophie is coach of the AAW4s
How did you get into coaching football?
I got into coaching through managing the AAW4s with my husband David as a coach for the last 2 years. I decided to help out more in 2014 as an assistant coach and got my coaching licence last year as well. This year I decided to take on a new challenge and coach 1 team on my own whilst David is taking on the 3s.
What has the focus for your team been during the first few weeks of the season?
Working on returning and new team members to find the best position fit based on the varied skill levels
How many seasons have you been with the club?
This is my 4th year
What excites you the most about Season 2015?
The 4s squad is probably the strongest and most competitive squad we have ever had in Division 4 and cannot wait to see what the girls achieve this year
What do you or would you want your players to say about you?
That women are awesome coaches!
Any standout coaches in your life who helped shape you?
My husband Dav is probably the standout for this question as he has coached me to become a better player but also to become a better coach. My dad would probably be the other standout as I grew up with my dad being a famous football player back home, which shaped me as a sportswoman.
