#AAW4 v. Maroubra Angels 5-0
Who is this team…the Dunbar AAW4s? Where did they come from? And were they always so good looking? Just a couple of months ago we were wallowing at the bottom of the table with zero confidence; pitifully grateful to get 1 goal in a losing match.
Now it’s a whole different team! As much as the Angels have improved their passing and coordination this season, they were outclassed yesterday.
With Elliot away for the week, coaching duty was taken on by Rachel; clutching her clipboard and yelling herself hoarse in that silly northern accent. Never has a football coach wielded a pink pompom so effectively.
We were fast asleep for the first 15 minutes but suddenly our coffees kicked in and we magically transformed. Everyone played well yesterday but there are a few shout-outs:
Prue spent 80 minutes being in exactly the right place at the right time. Mai, Lauren and Helen ran a marathon between them, Steff was solid in the centre field and took another awesome goal. Our defense gets extra credit for our first real clean sheet.
After spending the first half twiddling her thumbs as keeper Karla morphed into a strong attacker and thumped in her first goal of the season.
And then there was Roxy who was on fire! Her first shot was a bit of a scramble but she finally jiggled the ball in with her chest. I’m sure she’s scored many times with her boobs but she may not have previously done that little skipping dance; like a 5-year old with a chocolate ice cream. Her confidence came roaring back and then she couldn’t seem to help herself; scoring another 2 and making a few more close calls.
It may have been freezing cold on the pitch but our souls were toasty warm with another well-deserved win. xx
Goals: Stefanie Eggert, Karla Johanna, Roxane Arpin (3)
