AAW2 vs Coogee FC 9 August
9 August 2015
After securing the league title last week this was always going to be a tough ask away to the league runners-up. With a fairly experimental defence we struggled to get to grips with Coogee’s pace up front and conceded a very soft goal after only 90 seconds, but after 25 minutes or so we had started to get into the game and began to impose ourselves and could easily had gone in to the break level following a superb run from Annie.
The second half was much better although we couldn’t break down a fairly resolute defence. There was plenty of fight in the midfield that was missing in the first twenty minutes which will be needed when we meet Coogee in the first semi final this coming Sunday.
At the end of the league campaign there is lots to look back on and be proud of. It was clear Coogee wanted this result more than we did today but this won’t be the case throughout the finals. There is lots to get excited about over the next few weeks.
Final score: AAW2 0-1 Coogee
