Dunbar Rovers FC G12 vs Maccabi Hakoah G12
Match Report: 7th June 2015 at NCIE
After a unlucky loss last week the girls were looking to get back to winning ways and battle for top spot.
The game started strongly with both teams trying to work each other out but it was our girls that showed composed and confident attacks with a great skillful run through the middle from Captain Erika and a nifty lay off to in form Eliza who let off a cracking shot giving the Maccabi Keeper little chance of getting too it.1-0 Dunbar.
Maccabi settled the game down and created a couple of attacking chances themselves, however Issy leading a strong defence battled hard with solid performances from the back four keeping Maccabi at arms length.
Dunbar continued to pressure Maccabi anxiously looking for a second goal to ease the pressure. Sidonie worked endlessly down the right flank, twisting and turning skillfully with some great runs turning their defence inside out. The continuous pressure finally gave off when Erika and Eliza linked up well again for Eliza to smash a looping shot over everyone onto the crossbar and in. 2-0 Dunbar.
Second half started and Dunbar showed much more composure and structure in defence which gave Maccabi very little action in their attacking third. Persistent attacking almost paid off and we were unfortunate to get a third after some brilliant passing between Eliza and Dede ending at Sienna’s feet, with the shot just wide.
All round another solid performance from everyone!
Final Score 2-0 and a well deserved Lady of the Match to Sidonie.
