Finals Series #AA1 vs Barnstoneworth FC 1-0
Smart finish by Lloyd takes Dunbar past Barnestonworth and into the Semi’s.
It’s that time of the year again, Finals, and Dunbar faced a stubborn Barnestonworth team who have caused upsets throughout the season.
A good first half performance from BFC resulted in a number of spurned chances, including several close range headers. The old phrase, “He couldn’t hit a Barnestonworth door with a banjo” applied here, as chance after chance went begging. Highlights of the first half for Dunbar included the angry linesman’s dismissal of two Dunbar fans. Morgan sent to watch the game behind the fence for back chat/dissent and strangely, Butterfield’s bird also given her marching orders.
During the second half, a superb defensive display from man of the match Zubani and his fellow back 4 allowed Dunbar turned on the pressure as BFC sensed it may not be their day.
On 80 minutes, cometh the man, cometh the hour, Lloyd, free-kick expert placed the ball perfectly off a defenders leg, looping over the keeper (straight from the training ground).
Dunbar take their ever improving form into the Semi’s where they will face Queens Park.
