GoDs win v Pagewood B
Score: 3-1 Win
Scorers: Aidy (1), Bally (1), Chris (1)
After amassing a winning streak of two significant victories we got both an Easter break and some new socks. These socks were long enough for Kinky Boots but conveniently labelled L and R (reminding me of a joke about buying ladies’ undergarments at C&A).
Pagewood B always provide close encounters and the 2017 edition proved no different. The intensity did produce some good football from both teams. We were well structured with Olly Crouch joining AJ in the centre of defence with Sweeney and Tilbury full backs. They mixed well with CJ, Keith, Bally & Chris in midfield to supply good opportunities to Ade and Richard up front. Dunbar took an early lead when Ade executed a good build up from the right from Richard & CJ. Pagewood were quick to respond when a poor defensive pass left their striker with a golden opportunity that not even Quintin could save.
Some tactical subs with Millsy, Laz and Pedro allowing the midfield to slip off to the bar for some refreshments. We saw it out to half time with the game well balanced 1 – 1. We knew if we kept our shape at the back we should be ok.
On the 55th minute we edged ahead when Ade took the ball to the bye line on the right crossed for Bally to score in a crowded box.
Then, on the 60th minute, a fracas saw both teams reduced to ten players. Pagewood had more possession to the revised 10 v 10 format, however, Dunbar closed the game out with a disciplined defensive effort. Olly, Bally, Keith and AJ making notable contributions. Playing with just one up front, we scored again, this time on the break when Keith set up Chris. A 3-1 victory for Dunbar. We also scored three goals and conceded one.
I thought it was a very competitive display by both teams, and the players left their aggression on the pitch when the full time whistle was blown.
