AAW4 vs Olympic Eagles
AAW4s v Olympic Eagles 1-1
Ode to Prince of Wales Registrar
Oh hot doctor with your eyes of blue
How I’d like to sleep with you
I feel I need some kind of examination
I promise its not just a little flirtation
My knees hurt, my muscles ache, my eyes are all red
And I’d feel so much better if you took me to bed!
Gosh we had a tough, rough and stressful game on Sunday. We lost Carolina early to the PoW Emergency Room and were in danger of losing another player for the wrong reasons when, to the shock and awe of the rest of us, Kaz got into a punch up with the Eagles’ striker. Seriously! It was like a bout with Rhonda Rousey. The small crowd watching us really got their money’s worth. A bit of extra entertainment is not necessarily a bad thing for women’s football but it’s not something you want to see each week.
The rest of the game was super tense; with the ref on the lookout for any minor infraction. He copped an earful one too many times and Olympic lost their striker to a red card – evening up the numbers to 10 each.
Karla was unfairly cross with herself for letting a goal through but really she worked super hard all game, making some sensational saves. A bad mistake by the Eagles then gave us an indirect kick in front of the goals. Helen slid the ball gently to Stef who powered it through the Eagles’ legs, giving us the equalizer. We battled it out with an assertive Olympic for the rest of the game but despite dominating we just couldn’t get another through for the win.
Everyone worked really hard this game but a special call out to Stef and Prue who both ran city to surf that morning but kept sprinting up and down the field that afternoon to prevent Olympic winning. Wish us luck as we battle Olympic again tomorrow night with a starting team of 9!
