U12: Dunbar Rovers FC vs Queens Park
Match Report: 30 May 2015 @ NCIE
After winning games easily in the non-competitive U12 ESFA Development League our Dunbar U12 boys team played its first competitive match after being promoted against a Queens Park team placed 3rd in Division 2.
The Dunbar boys coached by Stephen Murphy from our Championship squad, started brightly and dominated possession and field position, 15 minutes into the first half Raff McGuiness our top scorer lobbed the goalie from outside the box, 1-0 up it ended at half time. Second half our boys continued in the same fashion and soon went 2 – 0 up after some great lead up work by Vasco Santos Appleby who turned his marker in the box and laid off a brilliant pass to Tommie Bruce who made no mistake from 10 metres in front of goal 2 -0 up with 15 minutes to go.
Queens Park then ramped it up and started to dominate possession, they had some close misses then finally scored after a scrimmage in the box 2 -1 with 7 minutes to go, Dunbar was now under the hammer as Queens park really took it to them looking for an equaliser but on the break Vasco once again dribbled into the box and was fouled from behind but despite calls from the crowd the ref gave no penalty, then with the last kick of the game Queens Park broke and equalised after another scrimmage in front of goal – its ended 2-2 with both teams shaking hands afterwards having played a great game at the NCIE.
